Together as a team, Duo raised over £2,000 for the charities The Christie NHS, Mind & Greater Manchester City of Trees.
We are committed to making a positive impact on our people, our community and our planet and that commitment goes way beyond a typical fundraiser. These charities were chosen by our employees as they each hold a special place in their hearts, so we needed to do something remarkable. Our team took on not one, but two fundraising challenges; Yorkshire Three Peaks and Tough Mudder.
Both challenges were physically and mentally demanding, so our team trained together and motivated each other in the build-up to the events. A group chat was established for all team members to join where they shared training advice, organised training events and inspired each other with pictures from their walks all around the UK. Most importantly the training brought the whole team together to talk, laugh and improve their fitness and general well being and as a bonus they explored the beautiful UK countryside together.
On Saturday 2nd July the Duo team took on Pen-y-Ghent, Whernside & Ingleborough. Over 65,000 steps, 25 miles and 1600m ascent, the Yorkshire Three Peaks. The team experienced it all; wind, rain, and lots of mud but overcame it together and finished the challenge in glorious sunshine. This was a tough challenge but in typical Duo style, the team pulled together, supported each other and didn’t stop smiling all day. The team at Fresh Walks (Murph & Jared) guided and supported the team the whole way.
Richard, Extrusion Manager said:
“I really enjoyed my experience of the Yorkshire Three Peaks Challenge. It helped me to push myself even more in the gym, so I was ready for it physically and mentally. I enjoyed getting to know the Duo family more outside of work. It was a big achievement getting over the finish line as a team.”
Just 3 months later on Sunday 23rd October, the Duo team took on theirsecond challenge Tough Mudder 10km at Manchester’s Heaton Park. In true Manchester style it rained and not just a little, a lot, which only added to the fun! The team tackled 22 obstacles and to say it was tough is an understatement but supported each other and didn’t stop laughing for the full 10km.
Georgia, Account Executive commented:
“I had always wanted to take part in a Tough Mudder event, so I was excited when Duo offered the opportunity to take part, especially as it was for charity. My highlight must be making a fool of myself sliding down every muddy slope on the course. It was also great seeing everyone work as a team to complete the obstacles and motivating each other throughout the whole 10K. It was an amazing experience.”
Thank you to our team, customers, suppliers and supporters for donating and supporting us to raise over £2000 for The Christie NHS, Mind and GM City of Trees.
