Yes, you read that right.
We’re fully committed to building a sustainable business in a way that not only satisfies the needs of our customers, but creates a positive influence on our team, our community, our partners and our planet.
In 2019 we introduced our Pact for the Planet. This is a pledge from us, to always be a supplier that creates a positive impact – for our customers, their policies, and the world we share.
Pact 1: Reduce carbon emissions
An important factor of climate change is carbon emissions – caused by the everyday functioning of businesses and people. We’re doing everything we can to continue to reduce our emissions. Since 2019 we’ve reduced our gas and electricity usage by investing in energy-efficient manufacturing equipment, and since January 2021 we have produced more than 250 tonnes of material made from carbon negative GreenPE. That’s the equivalent carbon saving of 255 flights around the world.
We’ve also developed a Carbon Footprint Calculator for our customers, so we’re able to accurately evidence the carbon footprint of their packaging and find ways to reduce this by working together.
Pact 2: Partner collaboration
We’re lucky enough to have built some brilliant, long lasting relationships with our suppliers and wider community over the years, who share our goal in building a more sustainable business and supply chain. Here’s a few examples of how we’re working together to make the world a better place:
Pact 3: Smart manufacturing
Technology is helping make huge advancements in sustainability. We’ve invested a lot into making our processes smarter, smoother and greener in several ways. We’ve implemented low carbon technology including LED lighting and also invested in heat recovery technology.
To contribute towards improving our own circular processes, we’ve recently installed a solvent recovery machine. This filters usable materials, which are produced as a by-product during printing, enabling them to be reused and reducing wastage.
Pact 4: Reducing reliance on finite resources
Since 2018 we have reduced our consumption of virgin polythene from a finite source by 24% and replaced it with sustainable GreenPE and recycled material. More than 50% of the products we have produced so far in 2021 contain more than 30% recycled content. Plus, less than 50% of the material we now produce is made from virgin polythene.
We have made significant strides to become a more sustainable business and we’re really proud of the work we’ve done so far. But it doesn’t stop there.
To mark World Environment Day on 5 June 2021, each member of our team has made a suggestion that will help towards building on our Pact for Planet and support #GenerationRestoration to reimagine, recreate and restore the world that we share.
If you have a green idea or sustainable suggestion or you would like some help to create sustainable low impact packaging for your business, we’d love to hear from you. Get in touch with our team here
