N Brown has a clear four-year sustainability plan and has made a commitment to the BRC Climate Action Roadmap which supports the retail industry to hit net zero carbon emission by 2040. They requested a packaging solution that uses sustainable materials whilst also reduces their carbon footprint.
Working with N Brown, we re-designed their existing mailing bag range to consolidate the individual branded mailing bags for JD Williams, Simply Be, Jacamo & Ambrose Wilson to a single multi-brand design. In addition, we also conducted a packaging audit, where it was identified that their products could be packed into 3 sizes rather than the existing 5 mailing bag size options available. Introducing a multi-brand bag plus consolidating the mailing bags range improved packing speeds and efficiency.
In readiness for the UK’s plastic packaging tax coming in April 2022, we used circular and sustainable materials (recycled polythene & GreenPE), to achieve a carbon neutral mailing bag that also satisfies the minimum tax requirements of 30% recycled materials.
The carbon saving properties of GreenPE means that N Brown will save an estimated 112 tonnes of carbon per annum. Plus thanks to GreenPE & recycled polythene N Brown have a sustainable, renewable, and recyclable mailing bag which decouples the brand from finite resources and supports their target of achieving net zero carbon emissions by 2040.
